Happy Labor Day!
I hope you had a safe and cool weekend!
We celebrate this time every year in honor of the men and women whose contributions and labor helped shape our country. The general consensus is that in or around 1882, laborers began to celebrate solidarity and strength as the American labor movement and trade unions grew. The day also traditionally signifies the end of summer. (I’m not sure summer is over, however, in SoCal!)
I was particularly impressed by this quote from Albert Einstein:

Today we pay homage to those who broke barriers and thought processes to pave the way for new ideas, systems, and an enhanced lifestyle. We remember the toil and works of their hands and minds. We continue to look for new ways to correct injustices and maintain all people’s equality and dignity.
Scripture has several references to labor:
“When you eat the labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.” Psalms 128:2 (NKJV)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
“With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.” 1 Corinthians 15:58 (MSG)
“Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men,” Colossians 3:23 (AMP)
The message is simple today. Celebrate those who’ve gone before and honor their struggles and victories. Be present to the work that needs to be done today. Prepare for tomorrow’s toil.
We look forward to a time when unity, dignity, and reverence for all people supersedes misdirected pride. Let’s labor together in humility and love.
Be Well & Be Blessed!
