This week we take the time to celebrate the people and situations in our lives for which we are thankful. Some of us spend time sharing a meal together while some opt to serve those who are less fortunate. Some of us arrange our day to do both. Regardless of your family’s traditions, the theme of the day is gratitude for the many blessings we are free to enjoy.

Gratitude can transform common days into Thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. Anonymous

We wanted to offer you this prayer for of reflection:

Thanksgiving Prayer

Dear Lord,

Where in the past I would have felt afraid, I am thankful for the challenges that will make me rely on Your strength and not my own.

Where I would have worried, I am thankful for the knowledge that you make all things work together for my good.

Where I would have felt alone, I am thankful for Your comforting presence as I step out in faith against each day’s uncertainty.

Where I would have worried and panicked, I am thankful for the reassurance that comes from knowing nothing is impossible for You.

Where I would have wanted an easy victory and a peaceful end, I am grateful to know that You are with me every step of the way.

Where I would have wanted more, I am grateful that You have shown me how much I have to be thankful for, in good times and in difficult times.

This Thanksgiving I pray for those who do not know you, that they may seek you and find the same sense of peace that I have found despite hardships and uncertainty.

Amen

We wish you and your family a joyous and peaceful thanksgiving!
