What a rainy week we had last week! For those of us who love the rain, it was a wonderful week of dancing in the rain. For those of us who had to work outside, hats off to your tenacity and dedication!I’m sure your tireless efforts will benefit many.

This week we take a compassionate look at self-care in the area of Social Wellbeing. We sometimes forget how important it is to interact with a group of friends or colleagues, particularly when we’re feeling stressed or underappreciated. It’s during these times that the positive input from a social group is beneficial,as well as being a potential impetus for needed personal transformation.
The World Health Organization is credited with the following quote:

We need one another to accomplish complete and lasting health. There are incredible benefits to sharing joys and inevitable sorrows as we allow others to enter our shared space in life. It begins with a willingness to be authentic and vulnerable to the possibilities of enrichment through conversation, which can come in many different forms.
Sometimes we communicate during an exercise class, as we struggle to push beyond personal limitations. Other times we may join in a shared hobby or game, like hiking, biking, gardening, or Mahjong. Sometimes Social Wellbeing may take the more traditional form of meeting for coffee or enjoying a meal together. Whatever your choice, intentionally seeking people with whom to share thoughts, ideas, and activities produce positive results for both ourselves and our companions.

We are in a season rife with possibilities for social interaction. The opportunities may be just what we need to make new friends, increase our support network, or reach out, gently and compassionately, to those who struggle with the holidays. Regardless of the manner, our efforts have the potential to increase self-care and may offer the additional benefit of attending to the needs of others.
Take a new step in your Social Wellbeing this week! My guess is that you’ll be surprised and amazed at the results!
Be Well and Be Blessed!
