Good Morning!

Welcome to Summer – long hot days, cool drinks, swimming, surfing, hiking, biking, barbeques, sunrises, and sunsets! My hope for you and those important to you is that you make time to enjoy all that the season has to offer and don’t waste a minute on things that don’t bless you or someone else.

Over the weekend, I had several opportunities to reflect on beginning a new season of life. There were two men, particularly, whose stories struck me as both exciting and challenging. One young man was drafted to the NBA in the early rounds and will begin his career as a professional basketball player. Another man is being relocated by his organization and has to leave people with whom he created a warm and collaborative life. In both cases, inner strength is the guiding force that propels them into this season where there will be new joys, as well as new challenges, but for which both have been excellently prepared.

One of my favorite verses about strength is in the Bible from the book of Isaiah:

“Fear not, for I am with you;

Be not dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you,

Yes, I will help you,

I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

Another quote that I value is from Eleanor Roosevelt:

“With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.”

I believe sometimes we forget that when we think positive and affirming thoughts, we are more likely to find our balance. This mindset is the place where our choices inform our strength, and our decisions become far more constructive.
