Good Morning and Happy July!
Generosity has been described as:
Unselfish giving and sharing of time, talents, and resources with others
Generosity is cultivated within. It begins by being generous with ourselves in healthy ways, which makes us happier. When we are more connected to various aspects of our wellbeing, we are better able to be charitable with others.
I suspect each of us can think of an occasion during which we were deep in our workout, reflection, or other activity when, suddenly, we experience a wave of benevolence. This feeling may have resulted in a spontaneous act of kindness by helping someone lift a weight correctly or by sitting with a compassionate, listening ear to a stranger who just needed to vent. In that few moments of generosity, we may have made a lasting impression on someone whose life was changed, and who will pass on the gift.
The writings of Buddha share this reflection:
“A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things that renew humanity.”
We live in a country where we’re free to exercise generosity openly and without fear of retribution or condemnation. As you celebrate our country’s independence this week, remember our forefathers who gave generously of their time, talents, and resources to ensure our freedoms are protected.
Be Well & Be Blessed!
