Happy December!
I hope your Thanksgiving celebration was a joyful time spent with loved ones! We have so many activities to look forward to this month, including Christmas, Hanukah, and Kwanza. Each has its own unique symbolism and ceremony. All represent special times of reflection and gratitude for the gifts of life and love.

Albert Schweitzer was known as a “polymath,” which, when translated, means a “universal man” or “a person of wide-ranging knowledge or learning.” He was a prominent humanitarian, writer, philosopher, theologian, physician, and organist whose contributions led to the Nobel Peace Prize in 1952, rendering him the first Frenchman to receive the coveted award.
Dr. Schweitzer’s words move us to a posture of thoughtful gratitude for the people in our lives who inspire, particularly when we feel at a loss to motivate ourselves. Each of us has times in our lives when we feel spent and unable to spark the creativity within that will move us into the next activity, relationship, or project. Sometimes rest is needed to recalibrate and reorganize. Other times there’s that one person or group we turn to for support and encouragement. These are the people who rekindle the spark that reignites an old flame or lights an entirely new ember, which has the potential to generate a new blaze.
I believe many of us have experienced this unconditional love and acceptance from another person, stirring us to new heights and accomplishments previously thought unattainable. I also think many have been that person whose support and encouragement has sparked creativity and enthusiasm in others, passing on that flame within to ignite new possibilities, opportunities, and solutions.
”But all things having their true character exposed by the light are made manifest; for that which makes everything manifest is light.” (Ephesians 5:13 DARBY)
Take time to consider ways in which we can approach this festive season, intentionally inspiring new hope and gratitude that will rekindle a spark in another person. Our holidays will be enriched in the process and provide encouragement to someone who may be forever grateful for our efforts!
Be Well & Be Blessed!
