Good Memorial Day Morning!
This week is the last in May! We were talking yesterday about how April seemed to creep along, but May seemed to disappear so quickly it almost makes our heads spin. I hope you are enjoying the long weekend and are eagerly anticipating the coming months.
The message today is simple. Today is the day we traditionally remember our fallen heroes who gave their lives to ensure our freedom. It’s a day when we hold space for our loved ones, friends, and family members who made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their own lives for the protection of others. We’re so grateful for those brave men and women without whom we all may be living very different lives.
So, what is a hero? Quora.com describes it this way:
“A hero is someone who puts others before himself or herself. A hero has good moral ethics, and is someone who does things for the sake of being good, and not just a means to an end, or a reward for good deeds, but it is someone who does good for the sake of doing good.”
This description is the way we look at our lost loved ones, our fallen heroes, on this day when we honor their lives and works. They suffered so we wouldn’t. They struggled so our lives would be more comfortable. And, they accomplished this in the most honorable and heroic ways we could ever imagine. We are forever in their debt. We are forever grateful for the lives they led and for their bravery, values, and moral character.
As we enjoy our special barbeques, foods, family, and friends today, let’s also spend a moment in quiet contemplation and reverence for those who sacrificially gave their lives to ensure the many freedoms we enjoy.
Have a wonderful day and a fantastic week!
Be Well & Be Blessed!
