As we wrap-up our reflection on integrity, I thought it was fitting to share this gem that I found written by Maria Razumich-Zec. The innovation of Ms. Razumich-Zec, an executive with The Peninsula Hotel Group, has significantly impacted the hospitality industry. In this quote, she highlights the importance of following through on the things to which we commit.
Sometimes we forget the power of our words, especially regarding what we tell people we will or will not do. If we give our word to spend time with someone or attend to a task and then fail to follow-through on our commitment, our credibility and integrity become questionable. The resulting seed of mistrust might, ultimately, end with the other person feeling insignificant and unimportant. Being faithful to complete the things we say we’ll do has the opposite effect. Honoring another’s time and need for services promotes safety, which is an integral component to the feeling of Wellbeing.
Here’s what Zig Ziglar had to say:
This week, consider commitment, action, discipline, and follow-through as the fuel for integrity, and have a wonderful week exploring how to integrate your words and actions!
