Happy Monday!
This week we celebrate. Wednesday is Flag Day. In the U.S., we commemorate the meaning of our flag. It’s a time to remember the importance of our freedoms and our values. President Ronald Regan once commented:
“When we honor our flag, we honor what we stand for as a nation ~ freedom, equality, justice, and hope.”
The flag symbolizes the courage and determination of our country’s founders and the men and women who fought for our rights and the opportunity to embrace life with surety.
The other celebration this weekend is Father’s Day. There are mixed feelings about the day. Some of us were blessed with fathers who took the role seriously. However, some of us were not fathered in the ways we needed. And some were disappointed and maybe even traumatized by an absent or abusive father. The following words from President Barack Obama echoed the sentiments of many.

Scripture shares some wisdom regarding fathers:
“Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you.” Deuteronomy 32:7 (NKJV)
“An earthly father expresses love for his children; it is no different with our heavenly Father; The Eternal shows His love for those who revere Him.” Psalm (VOICE)103:13
“I have loved you the same way the Father has loved me. So live in my love.” John 15:9 (GW)
We’ve all had different experiences concerning our fathers. I hope yours was one with many fond memories. If you didn’t have a positive experience, I hope other men were present in your life to give you a positive father experience.
Remember to get in some good self-care this week and take time to appreciate the people and things in your life that bring you joy. Then spread some of that happiness around. Enjoy your week of celebration!
Be Well & Be Blessed!
