Good Monday Morning!
I was sitting in a room with 130 mental health professionals committed to learning the advanced techniques of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) last weekend when the importance of community became foremost in my mind. Whether you know it as a place of worship, your small group training tribe, or the people with whom you share mindfulness or yoga, the one constant is that we need each other to find real balance and safety.
Brian Solis, world-renown author and speaker, is a digital analyst who studies the impact of disruptive technology. Mr. Solis shared the following thoughts:
“Community is much more than belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter.”
Cesar Chavez, Latino American civil rights leader and labor activist who co-founded the United Farm Workers (UFW) union, shared these words about community:

These inspiring words amazingly underscore the salience of stability in our lives utilizing the wellbeing component that speaks to our social needs. You see, one of our deepest desires as humans is to live and grow together with purpose and in peace. Scripture puts it this way:
”If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” Romans 12:18 (NKJV)
This week, ponder the significance of your community, in whatever manner it presents itself, and wonder about what you can do to contribute to its success. Then take action. Thoughtful actions are the first steps to a genuinely peaceful existence.
Be Well & Be Blessed!
