Trust:
a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. synonyms: confidence, belief, faith, certainty, assurance, conviction, credence, reliance
Trustworthiness:
the ability to be relied on as honest and truthful
We’ve explored some of the aspects of trust and trustworthiness as they relate to our lives. We found that there’s an element of both reliability and truth involved that become the cornerstone of our ability to have faith in ourselves and extend that assurance to others.
Jonathan Lockwood Huie, a self-proclaimed “Philosopher of Happiness,” believes that joyful living is a choice. He believes that trust is about moving forward in life by choosing to keep your focus on the positive aspects and not getting distracted by the negative things. Mr. Huie wrote:
“Trust your own inner guidance. Have faith that your steps are carrying you toward your dreams. Keep your eyes on the heavens and believe that your feet will carry you well.”
This is pretty good advice! As we concentrate on the things that are edifying and elevating, we seldom have the time nor the inclination to dwell on things that are unconstructive or pessimistic. By choosing to trust our own journey, we become available to assist others in their quest. We develop into trustworthy partners with the common goal of health, happiness, and overall wellbeing.
Take some time to marvel at your journey and delight in how your steps are carrying you closer to your dreams. Then, share your insights with someone else to help them get closer to the realization of their own dreams. The benefits of both activities will surprise you and reinforce faith and confidence in your purpose, as well as in the ability to be a trustworthy and safe responder for others.
