I hope you’re well and looking forward to this week’s activities! Persevering through these uncharacteristically chilly winter days has been a challenge for many. I hope you’re keeping warm and taking care of your health needs!
DILIGENCE, which is synonymous Persistence is our focus for this month as we attain excellence through dedication and hard work.
I like the use of the word, obstinate, in the definition shown above. Usually, we see the word used in a negative light, but here it seems appropriate as a catalyst to action, regardless of the obstacles. I think that accurately describes each of you as you strive for significant accomplishments and work toward the betterment of our community.
James Whitcomb Riley was an American writer and poet whose work was endorsed by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. He is most well-known for his poems, Little Orphan Annie and The Raggedy Man. Here’s what he had to say about persistence:
We know the discouragement will come. It’s a part of our human experience. The critical factor is to push beyond the hindrances that will inevitably appear to thwart our passion and process, and choose to continue with integrity and zeal. The courage and strength we acquire along the way are then multiplied as we model our positive actions to those within our sphere of influence.
I wish you joy in your journey this week, as you diligently continue your course of action in accomplishing the greater good!
