Today is our final installment in the discussion about loyalty for this month. We’ve explored various aspects of this trait, including its function in group dynamics, as an integral part of setting realistic goals, and as a lifestyle. Today we look at loyalty in friendships.

We frequently refer to loyalty in friendships as supporting one another regardless of the circumstances. The fact of the matter is that to maintain personal integrity, as well as openness among friends, we have to be willing to be truthful both in the telling and receiving of information. Sometimes that means we have to share painful realities, and often that means we have to summon all our courage to bring correction for growth. Sharing unexpected information is ultimately easier to hear when delivered from a place of kindness and genuine concern, which can be a crucial attribute with loyalty among friends.
