This month we focus on heart health, so be on the lookout for heart-healthy tips and treats. We’ll also be looking at Honesty. It’s a character trait that we greatly value, and you’ll be seeing and hearing a lot about honesty in the coming weeks.

James Faust was a religious and legislative leader in Utah until his death in 2007. He wrote stories and hymns and was president of the Utah Bar Association. He was also awarded the Distinguished Lawyer Emeritus Award in 1996. Here’s what he had to say about honesty:

We all need to know what it means to be honest. Honesty is more than just not lying. It’s truth telling, truth speaking, truth living, and truth loving. – James Faust

When we choose honesty, several things happen. First, we build character and integrity, particularly when it might be difficult to own the truth. Second, we save our creative energy for more important tasks like finding new and exciting ways to engage with each other. And, third, we become a safe place for others to share their thoughts.

Live in such a way that when people think honesty and integrity, they will think of you. -Unknown

It is a good reminder to be true to our words and actions. In this way, we’re able to model good behavior and encourage others to do the same.

I hope you have a wonderful week exploring honesty. My guess is that you’ll have some interesting conversations revolving around openness and sincerity. We look forward to hearing your stories!
