Happy first Sunday in July and the celebration of our country’s independence!

Today’s a day when we traditionally set time aside to give thanks to our forefathers’ tenacity in securing our country, thereby enabling us to avail ourselves of the independence and freedom foundational to our lifestyle. We take time to recognize our military men and leaders who have gone before us with courage and resolve and who, despite all odds, secured our freedom to choose how we live and worship. They navigated oppression and were tenacious in their efforts to build a society that values one another in the fight to preserve our freedoms.

Herbert Hoover wrote the following words that emphasize the importance of freedom:

Pin on Be Untamed

As we engage in our July 4 festivities, let’s remain cognizant of the strength and discipline it took to realize our way of life in the US. Let’s also remember the price paid to secure our freedom, preserve the human spirit, and uphold human dignity for all people groups.

“It is to freedom that you have been called, my brothers. Only be careful that freedom does not become mere opportunity for your lower nature. You should be free to serve each other in love. For after all, the whole Law toward others is summed up by this one command, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’.”  Galatians 5:13 (Darby)
