“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.” Dale Carnegie
Happy Monday! Happy 1st Day of September! Happy Labor Day!
Wow! We have a lot to be happy about today. I hope you’ve made the most of the long weekend and are enjoying some well-earned downtime!
Today, we honor the workers whose efforts built our country. We recognize the many individuals with strong work ethics who have laid its foundation. We value the strength others have provided, which has contributed to our collective prosperity, both in the past and for those who continue to do so today.
I read that the American Federation of Labor has a motto: Labor Omnia Vincit. It means “Labor Conquers All,” which is an excellent reminder that hard work pays off. We see it every day, and we honor those who contributed in the past and those who continue to work diligently and with dignity, no matter what kind of labor they perform.
I found this cool picture and was reminded that achieving things isn’t always easy. Sometimes it’s scary, and we must conquer our fears to finish the tasks. We often underestimate the time and effort required, but we learn to adapt for great results. The key is to get moving and do something, anything, to set the wheels in motion.
I believe this picture captures the essence of the day quite well ~ take a look. I also think you’ll appreciate Dale Carnegie’s thoughts:

I’m not afraid of heights, but there’s no way you’ll catch me hanging on a beam in the middle of the sky, much less walking or working without a safety net or anchor of some kind. I don’t know how those guys managed to do those tasks. We truly owe them and many others a debt of gratitude for their bravery.
Here are a few other thoughts about Labor Day:
“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” Thomas Edison
“I’m a great believer in luck and find that the harder I work, the more I have of it.” Thomas Jefferson
“All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
“I learned the value of hard work by working hard.” Margaret Mead
“It’s only through labor and painful effort, by grim energy and resolute courage, that we move on to better things.” Theodore Roosevelt
“Hard work keeps the wrinkles out of the mind and spirit.” Helena Rubinstein
And here’s what Scripture reflects about labor:
“You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.” Psalm 128:2 (NIV)
“The labor of the righteous leads to life,…” Proverbs 10:16a (NKJV)
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)
As we enjoy our parades, picnics, sun, and surf today, let’s recognize the hard work, courage, and efforts of those who have contributed to our way of life. Let’s also honor those whose work continues to provide for us, making it possible for our needs and desires to be fulfilled. We admire their confidence and courage in confronting their fears, as well as their fortitude and steadfastness in refusing to give in to weariness and continuing to labor with excellence. We are truly grateful!
Be Well & Be Blessed!
