It looks like we’re moving into some warmer weather this week. Remember to stay hydrated and protect your skin, particularly if you’re working or exercising outdoors. Most of all, enjoy the lovely spring-like mornings and take some time for yourself!

This month we explore the character trait of Loyalty. It’s one of those words that have multiple meanings within a group or organization and among friends and family. One definition from Webster’s is, “a strong feeling of support or allegiance.” Loyalty can be directed positively, as with devotion to faith and adherence to social norms. It can also be misguided when blindly following a person or organization whose morals and ethics may be questionable.

Fortunately, we have a loyal team within our organization that purposes to support and guide one another in ways that promote best practices and Wellbeing. Rensis Likert, most noted as the creator of the Likert Scale, captures the spirit of our association with these thoughts:

When we foster loyalty among team members, we generate excitement for projects and motivation becomes a driving force to achieve our goals. As Likert indicates motivation is key to the likelihood of favorable outcomes. Loyalty, then being a contributing factor to motivation, becomes a catalyst in accomplishing objectives.

Take time this week to discover how loyalty informs the desire and motivation to succeed. Then apply the principle of loyalty to a project, team objective, or bonding experience. We think you may be pleasantly surprised at how promoting loyalty generates motivation for accomplishing group objectives.

I hope you have an amazing week!
