“Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, others are often stiffened.”
Rev. Billy Graham
Happy Monday!
I hope you’re enjoying the holiday weekend!
Today, we honor those whose lives were lost while fighting to protect our freedoms here in the USA. It’s a day to commemorate their courage, fidelity, and willingness to defend our country, even if it meant their death. It’s a special day set aside to acknowledge those men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice to serve and protect us.
The following quote from Rev. Billy Graham gave me pause for reflection:

The literal translation of the word stiffened is to make or become stronger, strengthened, or more steadfast. Rev. Graham wrote in this inspiration that the bravery and courage of some prompt a similar response in others. As a result, many reflect the original model of becoming courageous. When a few inspire the many, amazing things can happen. Wars can be won. Perspectives can be altered. Change can be realized. Because of the bravery of our military personnel who gave their lives, we can become more steadfast or unwavering in our commitment to loyalty.
Here’s something from Scripture that points to being steadfast:
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose].” 1 Corinthians 15:58 (AMPC)
Please note in this passage that our labor is not futile – never wasted or without purpose. This concept is the reason we honor our fallen soldiers on Memorial Day. Their efforts were not futile. On the contrary, their immovable reverence toward our country and their willingness to serve with excellence is both commendable and inspiring.
I pray that, as you celebrate and join in the many festivities of the day, you remember the essence of this important holiday and find your peace within. Please consider additional ways to honor the memory of lives lost in pursuing freedom. Finally, I pray you will be abundantly blessed, even in the most ordinary circumstances!
Happy Memorial Day!
Be Well & Be Blessed!
