Good Morning!
Two spectacular weekend days! I hope you were able to get outside for a bit and enjoy the sunshine and the lovely sky, which was almost poetic in its striking beauty. At the very least, the splendor inspired hope and a little peace in this very challenging time of global concerns.
I’ve been spending some time sifting through the plethora of information available through social media and via news and other reports. My quest was to remain informed but also to look for positive people and moments that offer hope and inspiration. I believe that the more we purpose to make room for positive space to occupy our minds, the better able we’ll be to navigate through what may be a longer time than initially thought concerning the pandemic.
A few of my findings rose to the top of the list as thoughts to pass on to you. Brendon Burchard, the American best-selling author and performance strategist, posted a piece on purposing to make the most of the current crisis and leveling-up efforts to learn and grow in the changing marketplace. A couple of things struck me as relevant, regardless of our work or industry. We have a responsibility to model life well. There is always someone watching what we do and observing our presence in the process. Brendon’s words posited that we have:
“…a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you to be a role model, to optimize your health, to demonstrate a positive attitude, to show compassion, to set the emotional tone for your circle of influence, to remain calm and conscientious, to lead, to exemplify the values and habits and service and humanity you believe in.”
These thoughts so struck a chord in me that I knew I needed to share them with you. Mr. Burchard also wrote that we need to make wellness a priority, modeling good health practices physically, mentally, and emotionally for ourselves and others. I believe that in this way, we will be able to not only maintain our health but model good practices for others. As I noted before, there’s always someone watching. It might be a family member, a colleague, or a client who is looking for an anchor in this storm of uncertainty.
I appreciate Rosa Park’s sentiment and echo the need for authentic and transparent living, becoming a beacon of light for others. Scripture emphasizes this concept with the following:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:15 (NKJV)
“Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you – rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!” Isaiah 60:1 (AMPC)
As we develop courage and strength and work to manage our fears and vulnerability, we’re in a position to model life to others. We’re able to dig deep into the well of compassion and kindness, so our responses are intentional and uplifting. We create new, improved versions of our purpose and mission, and become beacons of light to those in our sphere of influence.
Take care of yourselves, and honor the global request to:
Stay Home and Stay Safe!
Be Well & Be Blessed!
