Good Morning and Happy 1st Monday of 2021!
Happy New Year! I hope you had a safe and joyous celebration of the possibilities based on new beginnings. We did have to modify our usual festivities and try unique ways to commemorate the day. I pray that your transition into 2021 overflowed with hopeful expectation and excitement for what’s to come.
Webster’s defines an epiphany as follows:
“(1): a usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something. (2): an intuitive grasp of reality through something (such as an event) usually simple and striking. (3): an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure.”
Christianity brings additional meaning to the word, observing January 6th as the commemoration of the Magi, also referred to as Kings or Wise Men, bringing gifts to the new Christ Child. The event was a sudden manifestation of awareness that was striking and prompted illumination of a new beginning. Traditionally, it signifies the end of the 12 days that began on Christmas day.
There’s such relevance for us in the concept of epiphany and the prospect of new beginnings. We have the opportunity to reflect on the past year, reconcile problematic issues, and welcome a distinctive, fresh palate on which to create meaningful portraits of our lives. The challenge is to embrace the uncertainty and trust in the process. Mandy Hale, an American author, describes the process well when she writes:

Ms. Hale’s words represent such truth!
Scripture reflects a similar sentiment in Habakkuk 2:3:
“For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.”
This verse underscores the necessity to trust the wait and embrace the uncertainty.
I’m particularly fond of the line in Hale’s quote that encourages us to enjoy the beauty of becoming. The process is priceless as we strive to acknowledge our purpose and allow time to shape us for the newness that will add texture to our experiences. Then there’s the thrill of uncertainty. If embraced and cultivated, uncertainty fosters possibility, which can alter the trajectory of our lives.
Even during this unique time in our world’s history, uncertainty has birth possibilities that didn’t exist before. Epiphany happens when we choose to allow uncertainty to meet possibility. It’s like a beacon of light in the darkness. We have options, choices, and promises when we opt to befriend uncertainty rather than become fearful.
This week, wait for the manifestation of your epiphany. Embrace the uncertainty and take a chance on the unknown. And enjoy the possibilities and beauty of becoming. It’s a perfect time to rethink the past and create strategies for a bright future and a new beginning.
My prayers are with you in your new beginnings!
Be Well & Be Blessed!
