I hope you had a lovely weekend! Last week was filled with ‘back tos’ – back to work, back to school, back to the flow and routine of daily life. We mark time by checking off the shoulds and the musts but enrich our experiences by savoring the moments.
As we rise to be our best selves this year, let’s remember:
Not surprisingly, peace and living in the present moment have numerous positive effects. Many of the current health enthusiasts advocate for love, peace, joy, compassion, kindness, and gratitude. There are a number of prescriptions to attain these mindful states, several of which involve raising the level of conscious thought.
For example, Sonia Ricotti, author of the Unsinkable: How to Bounce Back Quickly When Life Knocks You Down, espouses a three-fold process. The first step is to reprogram our conscious minds to shift our thoughts, so we notice what we’re feeling at any given moment. Next, we uncover our limiting, unconscious beliefs to hasten the move to affirmative empowerment. We’re then able to elevate our minds to attract positive thoughts and feelings. We remain in a state of joy because we choose to pay attention to the direction of our thoughts and actively participate in guiding them to be more purposeful.
There’s agreement in the medical field, as well. Studies have found that a positive outlook and intentionally pointing our minds toward healing and recovery, exponentially increases our success in fighting disease. Similarly, the practice elevates our mood and assists with assuaging the adverse effects of mental illness, one of the most prevalent health concerns in our area and of our time.
Spiritually, we can lean on the mindful understanding that:
“Perfect, absolute peace surrounds those whose imaginations are consumed with You; they confidently trust in You.” Isaiah 26:3 (TPT)
Consider looking at your thoughts this week to determine how you might elevate them. I’ll wager you’ll be happier and may create a peaceful environment for yourself and others in the process.
Be Well & Be Blessed!
