Jim Rohn was a motivational speaker and mentor to Tony Robbins (Awaken the Giant Within), Jack Canfield (Chicken Soup series), Brian Tracy (The Psychology of Achievement), T. Harv Eker (Secrets of the Millionaire Mind) and others. He won the National Speakers Award in 1985, and many of his talks continue to be found on social media today.

Rohn believed that self-discipline in setting goals is a powerful means of accomplishment. He espoused four basic tactics in implementing the process:

1. Evaluate and reflect – gives you your baseline and helps you chart the course to where you’d like to go.

2. Define your dreams and goals – helps define your hoped outcomes and develop strategies to get there.

3. Make your goals S.M.A.R.T. – smart, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-sensitive.

4. Have accountability – lends power and support to your goal and the process.

What a great way to begin the month of June! This week, consider reviewing your goals. Perhaps Rohn’s tactics will assist you in the pursuit and, with the addition of purposed self-discipline, you may be surprised at what new levels of accomplishment you can achieve.
