I hope you had a wonderful weekend! The days are getting longer and that means more time to enjoy lovely evenings outside. It also means more opportunities to soak in that vitamin D that we miss in the winter months.
Wellbeing
noun: wellbeing
the state of being comfortable, healthy, happy, prosperous
Many factors affect an individual’s or group’s wellbeing. The interconnectedness between the social, mental/emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions provide satisfaction, a sense of fulfillment, and vitality that’s unique to each person.
Deepak Chopra, author, public speaker, and advocate for alternative medicine, adeptly defined wellbeing as a journey that takes commitment and determination, as well as a belief in our own abilities.
We think there’s another aspect to the journey and that piece is courage. It takes courage to stand up for yourself when others don’t necessarily support your vision, whether it’s an internal emotional desire or an outreach for social change. Inside each heart, there’s a drive to accomplish a goal or purpose and it takes courage to explore what that might look like and not become discouraged when it seems out of reach.
Bethany Hamilton-Dirks, most noted for her story that inspired the movie Soul Searcher, had this to say about courage:
Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid. Courage means you don’t let fear stop you.
So, let’s be fearless in the pursuit! Challenge yourself to explore the areas of social, mental/emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. Courageously take inventory in these areas and determine where you need to focus more attention. Be fearless in reaching out for support. And be confident that, even if it’s tough at first, anything you do in a positive direction will add to your joy, satisfaction, and fulfillment promising hope for your life.
Be Well and Be Blessed!
