Integrity, according to C. S. Lewis, is about “doing what is right when no one is looking.” It takes real courage to live a life of integrity knowing that you may never be recognized for your acts of honesty and kindness and accepting that these actions separate you from others. Having integrity shows that you’re more interested in carefully choosing your next move from a values and character building perspective rather than for personal gain. In the end, you become stronger, and those around you are enriched by your example.
This is challenging at times, but you can be faithful to answer to the higher calling of integrity if it’s at the very core of your value system.
