Good Morning!
I hope you had a restful weekend!
This week we celebrate the tradition of Valentine’s Day. The day is steeped in mystery that dates back to sometime around to 270CE. Some legends note that one of several Christian martyrs named Valentine was jailed and thought to have befriended a young woman, whom he healed from her blindness. Before he was executed he, reportedly, wrote a note which he signed from your Valentine. Other folklore credits a bishop named Valentine who secretly married young couples against the orders of the emperor.
In any case, the celebration has become an international phenomenon where messages of love are shared in the form of cards, songs, cupids, and, flowers, particularly roses.
I want to commemorate the day a bit differently this year by adding a new dimension. You see, I’m all for the romantic love that is exchanged between two committed people, but I also support the notion that without self-love, the former is nearly impossible. There’s a simple prescription for self-love that assists us in finding and owning our truth, as well as positioning us to love others, according to Deborah Khoshaba Psy.D.
1. Become mindful.
2. Act on what you need rather than what you want.
3. Practice good self-care.
4. Set boundaries.
5. Protect yourself.
6 Forgive yourself.
7. Live intentionally.
Even choosing to act on one of these concepts will significantly enhance our self-care and will allow us to be present for those we love. So my message of love to you is:

Enjoy expressing your affection this week to those people you love and admire and remember to shower some of that care upon yourself, too!
Be
Well & Be Blessed!
