Martin Seligman is an American author, educator, and psychologist best known for his work on positive psychology. Dr. Seligman is one of the most cited clinicians in the century on the subject of wellbeing. His theory states that the elements of wellbeing must be positive and subjectively engaging, build meaningful relationships to promote social connection, and gauge accomplishment through the lens of what positive emotion the pursuit elicits. He believes that positivity should contribute to wellbeing for its own sake and defined and measured independently of other virtues.
